Crossroads Care East Lancashire, Hyndburn and Ribble Valley have secured over £360,000 from the Big Lottery Fund for their         ‘A Proper Break’ project that will be of benefit to those who care for partners, family or friends with dementia; such as Azheimers disease and vascular dementia.

The funding is expected to provide over 100 carers with 35,000 hours of respite support, which will hopefully reduce stress, increase confidence and potentially improve health and well being, as carers take a ‘proper break’ from their caring responsibilities.

As part of the delivery process the charities will recruit an additional six carer support workers from their local areas and provide the training required. This is an excellent employment opportunity for those considering a career in caring and carer support.
